YDA partners with Watersprite Film Festival

Young Director Award are proud to announce partnership with the Watersprite Film Festival, taking place this year at Cambridge from 3-5 March.

The Watersprite Film Festival is run entirely by students, and takes place every year at Cambridge University and Anglia Ruskin University, celebrating student filmmakers from across the globe.

Watersprite firmly believes in promoting access and alleviating barriers to entry into the film industry for student filmmakers from all walks of life. Following the announcement of the 2023 Watersprite Nominees last week, YDA is proud to officially announce our partnership with the festival.

As part of the partnership, Watersprite winners will automatically be offered a free entry into the 2023 edition of YDA, worth up to 220€. WInners can submit their film into one of the many categories, that YDA has opened to submitters this year. The YDA 2023 edition is now open to all filmmakers whose professional experience does not exceed three years, and whose piece is one of their first six films.

Of the exciting new partnership, YDA President François Chilot says:

“We are extremely happy to welcome Watersprite, the second largest International Student Film Festival as a partner. Discovering and promoting new international talents is the core of our DNA. We will seek to develop a fruitful relationship and hopefully give new perspectives and opportunities to students who have won at Watersprite and are looking to take their next steps in the creative industry”

This year, Watersprite will take place in Cambridge on 3-5 March, and tickets for the screenings are still available. Watersprite 2023 promises to be a fantastic year, with 27 films nominated from 15 different countries. Winners will be announced at the Watersprite Awards Ceremony in Cambridge on March 4th 2023.
