B2CD Showcase: Smash & Grab

We are proud to announce a second B2CD film in the 2022 showcase.

Congratulations to Neil Linpow for his entry ‘Smash & Grab’
Four women race a ticking clock across a bustling city, readying themselves for the ultimate Smash and Grab showdown.

“The film was shot during lockdown, after I became frustrated at the lack of proactive engagement to create opportunities for young people in our industry.

I am a volunteer mentor for a UK organisation called ‘Creative Mentor Network.’ It looks to support people from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and find them routes into the business. But, as much as I love working with my mentee, I still felt like I could be doing more to create opportunities to get him and others practical work experience.

Lockdown gave me the time and focus to try and create a project and then reach out to my local community centres. We had 10 young people on set that had never been on a film shoot before, but wanted to get into the industry. All of them were partnered up with an experienced crew that were also lending us their time.”

Last Chance to Enter B2CD 2022

For over 15 years, the tagline ‘Born to Create Drama’ has carried the same distinctive message: a simple but effective way of signifying the talented directors we search for and champion.
We want to see films that attest to this innate desire to create. We want a story that shows that this creative drive begins in childhood, and how, eventually, it can lead to the moment where a young talent enters a film into the YDA.

Entries can be anything up to three minutes long, and it is up to you to set the tone; from humorous to scary, exciting to unsettling, sombre to upbeat…as long as it makes us sit up and pay attention.

If entrants are eligible, all showcased entries will be entered into the relevant category in the main competition free of charge. The winner will introduce our ceremony in 2022, and be featured in the prestigious shots magazine.

Born to Create Drama is free to enter and open to everyone, whether you’re a young director or not, whether you’re filming alone with your smartphone, or going traditional and getting a film crew involved… so what are you waiting for?

The closing deadline for ‘Born to Create Drama’ is next week so please hurry if you want to enter.

For more information and to enter visit the entries website.
