How to become a star director – enter Young Director Award and get noticed

We often ask star directors what were the key lessons they’ve learnt along the way and generally they say:

Keep making films. Finish one, learn from that, make another.

Learn to collaborate. Learn when to let go of your own vision and listen to others (usually creatives) and when to hang tight to your own ideas.

Get your good work noticed.

And how to get your work noticed is by putting it up on the web and hoping it will be picked up by viewers. Another way is entering the Young Director’s Award where your work will be viewed by numerous leading producers of production companies during the judging process.

This year too we will be showing the entire shortlist online which is viewed by international producers both from production companies and agencies on the look out for hot talent. Milllions view our youtube channel too.

Over 800 producers and creatives get to see the winners at the YDA show at the Miramar Theatre on June 21, in Cannes.

So get your work noticed. The deadline for the YDA which is April 27th, 2012 is looming fast.

You can submit entries in the following categories: Broadcast commercials; web films (including interactive); branded short films; film school commercials; test commercials; music video; animation and video art.

The one and only submission rule is that films entered must be among the first four commercials ever made by the director since January 1st, 2011.
