YDA Rocks Out with New Music Video Category

Up-and-coming promo directors! The CFP-E/shots Young director Award has an early Christmas present for you – we’ve added a brand new music video category to the competition.

Music video has long been an incubator for innovative filmmaking talent – and the insane combination of shrinking budgets and proliferating technology means that promos are the ideal arena for creative new directors.

After having included the very successful Branded Shorts and Web categories into the ranks of the Young Director Award, YDA has heard the call of young music video makers across the world. In response to the growing trend of pro and amateur film makers who are creating an impressive array of musically inspired and evocative movies, the 2011 Young Director Award will be inaugurating their latest competition category: the Music Video

The Young Director Award has already seen some impressive use of music and songs in previous award entries and will be extending the competition to all the young budding music video directors who have appeared on the scene last year.

The rules and terms of entry will not change for this new category and the Young Director Award will continue to hold the competition open for both sections: European and Non-European entrants.

So if you fancy yourself as the next Gondry, Jonze or Cunningham, keep posted on the YDA blog in the coming months for more information about how to enter!
